The Word - April 17, 2012 - WHO IS MY
HELPER ?
"If you love me, obey my
commandments. And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another advocate,
who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all
truth." (John 14:15-17).
Early this morning, my first waking
thought was of a phrase of Scripture, "This is what the Lord said",
and that I needed to send it to someone. That idea came to me totally unbidden.
I hadn't been thinking or dreaming about that person before I awoke, and the
suggestion came from outside my normal thought patterns. It just came,
"out of the blue!"
Has this ever happened to you? My first reaction was, "Where in the world
did that come from?" Then I realized it did not come from any natural,
normal mental process and I came to the unmistakable realization that there was
only one source for the idea. Looked up the Scripture and realized it was also
a message for me as well, directly from the Holy Spirit.
You and I have a "Helper" who is with us at all times; the Holy
Spirit of God. This truth has profound implications, especially when we affirm
it and experience it daily on a practical level. Whether we immediately
recognize it in our lives or not, The Father has indeed answered the request of
Jesus in John 14. He has sent the Holy Spirit to be with us always.
Are you sensing a need right now for the "fresh oil" of the Holy
Spirit in your life? Would you be willing to take a step to see that happen in
a practical way? Fresh oil is indeed the continual desire of my heart. If you
feel the same way, please join me in this prayer:
"Thank you, Lord Jesus, for asking the Father to send the Helper to me.
I declare on the authority of Your Word that the Holy Spirit is available to me
for every need in my life.
I ask you right now for the "fresh oil" of the Holy Spirit in my life.
Let Your Spirit flow freshly and freely in me, especially in this areas of my
life that have become stale and clogged. Thank You that you have sent the
Helper to me this morning. I welcome Him anew this day, and I open myself anew
to the power and filling of Him in every area of my life. In Jesus Name! Amen!
