6, 2012 - GODS PROMISES
Trust in the Lord, and do good....Delight yourself also in
the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord,
Trust also in Him. and He shall bring it to pass.
(Psalm 37:3,4 5).
Did you ever
wonder how many personal promises we have in the Bible; promises that God makes
to all His children? A man by the name of E. R. Storm did just that, and
came up with 7,487 promises made by God to man.Scattered
throughout the Bible are hundreds of definite explicit promises we can put in
the category Peter names as "the
exceeding great and precious promises"(11 Peter 1:4).
We love to read every one of them, don't we? Then wonder sometimes why they
don't become reality in our lives. Lets look and see
if we can discover the reason for the seeming disparity. Consider our Scripture
verses for today. Every one of them have a condition
attached in order for us to receive the benefit of the promise.
Trust in the Lord and do good
...there are two conditions
right there, but there is still another:
So it is with all 7,487 promises made by God to mankind. The
result of "trust", "Doing good", Delighting in the
Lord", and committing our way to Him" not being part of our
journey indicates sin dwelling in our life.
At the beginning of another week, perhaps a good exercise for all of us would
be to dwell on the conditions in order to enjoy the fulfillment of the
promises!
