The Word - January 10, 2012 - Eternally Secure
"For I am absolutely certain that neither death nor
life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,
nor heights nor depths, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to
separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans
8:38-39).
Do you ever worry that you could lose your salvation?
That you could do something so awful that you would no longer be saved?
The fact is, when you make a decision to accept Christ as your Savior, your
eternal future is made secure. Jesus only needed to die once! His work is
finished! Thanks to what Jesus did on the cross, God has wiped away any sin
that separated you from Him. In fact, Psalm 103:12 tells us that "As far as the east is from the west, so far does He remove our
transgressions from us."
You know, it is possible for a person to hold onto the guilt for what you have
done in the past....or for what you are currently doing. Perhaps you have a
deep sense of guilt and regret, and that is stopping you from turning back to
God.
If so, I want to remind you of what Paul says in our Scripture, that nothing,
absolutely nothing can separate you from God's love. Death can't do it. Life
can't do it. Nothing in your past or your present or your future can separate
you from God's love. Not one single thing!
I have no idea who is reading these thoughts, if you have messed up your life,
but I can assure you of the fact you can claim this promise from God today. His
love is unconditional, and, by the way, there are some folks here in time that
love you as well. So the next time Satan tempts you to doubt your standing in
Christ, turn to Romans 8:38-39, and say these verses out loud, and for goodness
sake! Take God at His Word! "Nothing in
all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus
our Lord."
