LOVE WITHOUT
MEASURE
"His unfailing love toward those who
fear Him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. He has
removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west" (Psalm
103:11-12).
Imagine, if you will, David out on a hillside looking
up to the heaven above lifting his voice in praise to the Lord. He declares, Let all that I am praise the Lord;
with my whole heart, I will praise His holy name." Then he is
carried away with the thought of God's unfailing love and in the words of our
text he extolled the greatness of God.
David is trying to picture the immensity of God's love and mercy, and he
compares it to the height of heaven above. Today we should understand to a
greater degree the universe above and around us.; we are but part of one galaxy
of unnumbered ones in the vastness of space. No human mind can fully comprehend
the dimensions of the heavens. And David says that just as great as those
dimensions of the heavens, so great is God's love and mercy toward them that
fear Him.
Then David reminds us about the way God has dealt with our sins: "As far as the east is from the west,
He has removed our transgressions from us." How awesome
is that! Regardless of how far east you go, you are still going east. And if
you move west, you can never get to the end of west. Beloved, that is how far
God has moved our sins from us!
