The Word - March 8, 2012  -  THE VISIBLE REVELATION OF THE INVISIBLE GOD

"Christ is the visible image of the invisible God.He existed before anything else was created and is supreme over all creation" (Colossians 1:15).

Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was divine and unique; He was God manifest in the flesh; He is the heart of all the Scriptures. The supreme dignity, glory, and unapproachable per-eminence of the Lord Jesus are described in beautiful detail, and is seen as "all in all."

In Deity: He is equal with God, the image of God, and the fullness of God (1:19).

In Creation: He is the Creator of the universe (1:16). He is the cause, head and goal of the created universe.

In Providence: He is the sustainer of the universe (1:17). He is the origination, manifestation, sustentation, and consummation of the world.

In Redemption: He is the only one able to redeem (1:20-22). He is the fullness of God to us who believe.

In conclusion, note the various aspects of salvation which are ours in Christ, the incomparable One. He has delivered us from the power of darkness (1:13).

He has rescued us, and placed us in the kingdom of the Son of His love. We have redemption through His blood (1:14); even the forgiveness of sins.

He has reconciled us to God (1:21); in order to present us holy and blameless in His sight (1:22).

And what can we say to all this? "Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift"! When God gave His Son to die on the cross, He gave a gift beyond telling and it was motivated by the greatest love that has ever existed!
