The Word - May 16, 2012  -  YOU ARE DESIRABLE TO GOD

"You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do. You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord. You go before me and follow after me. You place your hand on my head. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand" (Psalm 139:3-6).

Do you remember when, for the very first time you thought, just maybe, someone cared for you? I remember the first time that happened to me. There was this girl; wow, was she something! I remember sitting in class and peaking in her direction, in almost anguish, hoping she might look back. Then one day, she did look back and our eyes met. She smiled! Did that ever happen to you? Remember how that felt? You were wanted!

Are you ready for this? You are desirable to God. He has been pursuing you from the moment you were born. He desires to have an intimate relationship with you. God is pursuing you every moment of every day!

Jesus explains his reason for coming to the earth, "to seek and saved what was lost." In another place, God calls His people "the Apple of His Eye." In the New Testament, God calls us His beloved, says we are chosen, holy, dearly loved. We are told that nothing and no one can ever separate us from the love of God in Christ.

Psalm 139 says that God does have a plan for your life; just for you. You can choose to cooperate with that plan, or you can choose to ignore it. In another day, there were a group of people who were feeling like a bunch of nobodies. God told His prophet Jeremiah to give them a special message. This is the message, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future"

I believe this means that there are certain parts of what God wants to accomplish in the world that YOU were designed to do, something that only you could do! Ephesians 2:10 says, "We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." His desire is, that at any age, at any point in our life, regardless of mistakes we have made, Our God loves us so, He will fit us back into that plan!
